Publish Wiki Content

Wiki currently has no Read Only Wiki mode. A wiki is always editable in some sense or other - even when you do no own the wiki. This makes it problematic to share the content created in wiki to other users.

This is a problem we are currently working on, and hope to have fixed in a forthcoming version of wiki. However while we wait, and in anticipation of even more advanced ways to publish the content of wiki, we are looking at creating an export or Publish Button for wiki.

# Issues with wiki

Issue:
  • If it's not "safe" to bring readers to the content then the alternative is to take the content to the readers.

Taking content to readers at present is too clunky to be a reasonable option.

I try to work openly, but wiki is not ready to help that happen.

# Issues with workarounds The following issues have workarounds that partially address the authors issue. Wiki loves workarounds.

Issue:
  • Content has to be copied and pasted a paragraph at a time.
  • After copying and pasting all kinds of "behind the scenes wiki-ness" would become visible, and would need to be deleted.

Dragging vertically down the page margin (in the white space at the left hand edge of that page), being careful not to touch and paragraph elements selects multiple page items.

After selecting the user can use the usual copy function for their system and copy the text displayed without all the wiki markup.
